Why well being in the arts at an early stage needs more discussion
With awareness, conversation, discussion and a range of guidance and techniques, young people can enter the industry ready to understand, and challenge, the specific difficulties that they will face. This workshop aims to facilitate that conversation, and helps to make students more prepared for their path ahead. A highly interactive 2.5hours complete with exercises for mindfulness, breathwork, and relaxation.

Communication and discussion around the challenges of working as an actor/performer in the industry are vital at entry point, but they’re not happening. In a twitter pole undertaken in 2023. 98% of respondents said they were not offered a mental health or well being session whilst in their formal training environment. This has to change. Wellbeing in the arts is now an established charity offering low cost counselling to industry members, because it is needed. But what about prevention? How about we try to equip our young performers with a skill set for managing stress better. What if they were more prepared for the challenges and knew a little more about how to cope when they hit. I firmly believe that is what we should be doing. Katalyst literally means “an agent of change” and change has never been more needed then now. So, Let’s Talk.
Kathryn is a great trainer, delivering results and gaining very positive feedback from delegates on her courses. I have worked with Kathryn as a co-trainer and have used her to run a number of projects. She is supportive, intelligent, always developing and highly professional.
